The Krio Descendants Union (KDU) is a social, cultural, and charitable organization that brings together people who are descendants of the Krio people of Sierra Leone. Our main goal is to preserve Krio history, culture, language, and heritage while promoting unity among Krios around the world.
The organization is connected to the Krio ethnic group, also called the Sierra Leone Krios, who are descendants of freed slaves from North America, the Caribbean, and recaptured Africans who settled in Freetown, Sierra Leone between 1787 and the late 1800s.

The modern union grew out of earlier efforts to organize Krio descendants. The group was founded as the Creole Descendants Union by George T. O. Robinson and later became known as the Krio Descendants Union. The organization that connect people of Krio heritage, celebrate their history, and supports both the diaspora and communities in Sierra Leone
Today the organization has chapters in many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Sierra Leone.
